On Monday, Dr. Radhakrishnan IAS said that aggressive testing is the reason for the exorbitant rise in the number of positive cases in Chennai.

Most of the police personnel who were tested positive fall below the rank of inspector and they had been patrolling across the city to tight the security measures.

The website states that the registration would let the government make adequate quarantine arrangements for the people who returned from overseas and other states.

On Monday, Cuddalore has reported 160 positive cases linked to the Koyambedu cluster and the district has currently kept over 700 people under quarantine.

The tax on fuel is one of the major revenue channels to the state government as it won't fall under the ambit of the Goods and Service Tax (GST).

Tamil Nadu has been reporting surging cases for the past few days and the graph of the affected cases has been rising sharply amid the lockdown and restrictions.

Amid the strict restrictions, the cases have been surging in Chennai as the city has contributed about 85% of the cases for the past four days.

The announcement has come hours after the state cabinet has consented to extend the lockdown and a day after the Central government has renewed the nationwide lockdown. 

David Beasley, the executive director of the World Food Programme has alarmed India that millions of people are facing hunger during COVID-19 lockdown.

The state has reported nearly 600 cases in the past four days which is more than the total number of cases Kerala has reported so far since the outbreak.
