On July 3, Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 death toll stood at 1,385 and in a month, on August 3, the state's death toll stands at 4,241 as in the span of one month, the state has added 2,856 more deaths to its toll. 

Karti Chidambaram has become one of the prominent figures to spelled positive. On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa have tested positive for the virus. 

According to ANI, one of the daughters of Yediyurappa has also tested positive for the virus following her father on Monday and she has been admitted to the Manipal hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the official press release issued by the state health department, Tamil Nadu has tested 27,79,062 samples so far including 60,344 that were tested on Sunday.

The hospital has said that the Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit tested positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic and clinically stable.

'I am feeling okay, but on the advice of the doctors I am getting myself admitted into a hospital', the Home Minister stated.

On July 1, the state's death toll stood at 1,264 and in a month, the state has added 2,770 more deaths to its toll with the major rise in Chennai.

The private hospital has charged Rs 12.20 lakh from a COVID-19 patient for 19 days of hospitalization which exceeded the fee cap fixed by the government.
