A senior leader of the protesting unions said, "We welcome the court's order to stay the implementation of the farm laws, but we want a complete repeal of these laws".

The apex court had ordered the Center to issue a fresh notification for land acquisition and it has to comply with all the environmental norms following which the Center can go ahead with the project.

Last week, Congress and opposition parties have decided to approach the Supreme Court to review the verdict pronounced on August 17 in conducting the exams.

Following the verdict, Prashant Bhushan said, "My lawyer and senior colleague Rajiv Dhavan contributed 1 Re immediately after the contempt judgement today which I gratefully accepted".

Justice Lakshmanan was part of the Supreme Court bench that pronounced the judgment of banning smoking in public places.

The development has come when the Tamil Nadu government has already moved its caveat in the case to the Supreme Court on August 19.
