Trailer Talk: Who's who for Vijay in Varisu and what can we expect?

(This article is authored by Alar)

Vijay's Varisubilled as a family entertainer, goes with the tagline "THE BOSS RETURNS", touching the remembrance of Vijay's return from his shades of the 90s-2000s films. When the Thunivu trailer came as an occasion for the ending of 2022, Varisu makers hands the trailer on the first days of 2023. So let's chat about the just released trailer of emotional (said to be) entertainer helmed by Vamshi Paidipally.

The trailer paints a picture of Vijay, the protagonist, as a mature, robust, and energetic family man who didn't miss a chance to rescue his dear ones from the claws of a shady businessman. If you look back to Vamsi's previous film, Thozha, which starred Karthi and Nagarjuna, you'll remember that behind the characters' lavish lifestyles, lies genuine care and a strong bond, which reflects in this upcoming trilingual drama.

The antagonist played by Prakash Raj and his villainous antics don't need the specifics, as the duo made their mark in 'Gilli' land. But Varisu places them in a ''corporate setting'' where they wear suits to compete. Going by trailer, it is the story of one big joint family of Vijay and his two elder brothers- Shaam and Srikanth, where Sarath Kumar (father) heads the family business. Rashmika Mandanna plays the love interest and their duets with Thaman's beasty beats were the viral hit, and reserves the visual treat on the theatre debut.

Vijay's parents are presumably Jayasudha and Sarathkumar, and the only thing that is intriguing is that the actor never shared a single frame in the trailer with his father, which hints little at the fact that they have some father-son tussles, and the trailer has rare moments of Vijay with his family. In the line of usual commercial flicks, presumably Sathish, VTV Ganesh, and Yogi Babu play the companions for the actor in crucial times. And the already-released 'Soul of Varisu' song video hinted that Khusbu might play the mother of Rashmika.

In light of the fact that fans have seen their idol for such a long time in a pure action avatar in Sarkar, Master, Beast, and so on, the popularity of Varisu as a 'family entertainer', and like 'Poove Unakaga,' raising the level of expectations.

But the good aspect is that actor's return to form in films like Velayudham, Bhairava, and Ghilli as Kollywood has kept south PAN masala actioners on top for the past few months. The trailer revealed a large portion of the story and led viewers to expect that the film's climax would show how the son triumphs over the villain. In short, we can expect from the trailer that Varisu can be a lookback nostalgia for Vijay, and it will be a pure treat for his loyal fanbase.
