Karthi, who is currently busy with the post-production of his upcoming film Japan, has signed his next project with director Nalan Kumaraswamy. The film, tentatively titled Karthi26, is said to be a fantasy comedy entertainer with a lot of surprises.
According to sources, the film will feature Krithi Shetty as the female lead opposite Karthi. The actress, who made her debut with Uppena, has been roped in for this film after impressing the makers with her performance and screen presence. She will join the sets soon after completing her other commitments.
The film will also have music by the legendary AR Rahman, who is in talks with the director for composing the songs and background score. The Oscar-winning composer has reportedly agreed to work on this film as he liked the script and the genre. The film will also have cinematography by George C Williams, who has worked in Kaththi.
The film has already created a lot of buzz among the trade circles as all the rights have been sold out even before the shoot starts, as per the producer, KE Gnanavel Raja. The film has fetched a record price for Karthi’s career and is expected to be a big hit at the box office. The film will go on floors soon and will be shot in various locations across India.
Karthi26 is produced by V Creations and will be distributed by Dream Warrior Pictures. The film is slated to release in 2024, as per sources. The actor was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Maniratnam.
