Indian 2 a political thriller that revolves around the vigilante Senapathy, played by Kamal Hassan, who fights against corruption and injustice in the country. The film, which was earlier planned to be released at the end of August 2024, to prepone by a few weeks to cash in on the patriotic fervour of the audience.
According to the latest reports from film insiders, the much-awaited sequel to the 1996 hit film Indian, starring Kamal Hassan and directed by Shankar, is all set to hit the screens on Independence Day of 2024.
The film also features Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Bobby Simha in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman.
The film has been in the making for a long time, facing several delays and hurdles due to various reasons. The shooting was halted in February 2020 due to a crane accident on the sets that killed three crew members and injured several others. The pandemic also affected the production, forcing the makers to postpone the release date multiple times. However, the team resumed the shooting this time, and it developing to a great fanfare.
The post-production work of the film is currently underway, with Shankar overseeing the editing and visual effects.
