The Makkal Selvan of Kollywood, Vijay Sethupathi, is all set to enthrall his fans with his 50th film, titled ‘Maharaja’. The film, which is written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan of ‘Kurangu Bommai’ fame, promises to be a gripping political thriller with a lot of interesting elements.
The film’s first look poster, which was released on July 12, 2023, shows Vijay Sethupathi in a mysterious shadow, with a chess piece, hinting a premise on political power and thrust. . Taking to Twitter, the makers dropped the update, by writing, “Even the darkness fear his brutal politics. Beware, he’s coming !! #VJS50 Titled “ #Maharaja ” Get ready to handle the toughest ones in the game Written & directed by @Dir_Nithilan #MakkalSelvan @VijaySethuOffl".
‘Maharaja’ features an ensemble star cast, including Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who plays the crucial role, Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandas, who plays the female lead, and Natty Natraj, who plays a pivotal role.
The film also has Abhirami, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Bharathiraja, Vinod Sagar, PL Thenappan and many more prominent actors. The film’s music is composed by Ajaneesh Loknath of ‘Kantara’ fame, while Philomin Raj handles the editing and Dinesh Kumar Purushothaman handles the cinematography.
The film is jointly produced by Passion Studios and The Route, who have earlier collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi for films like ‘Seethakaathi’. The film is expected to hit the screens soon and create a new milestone in Vijay Sethupathi’s career.
He has also ventured into other languages like Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada. He is currently busy with several projects in different stages of production. Some of his upcoming films are ‘Gandhi Talks’, ‘Mumbaikar’ , Jawan, and ‘Idam Porul Yaeval’.
