Fans of the romantic road thriller ‘Paiyaa’ are in for a treat as the director N. Lingusamy is reportedly planning to make a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster that starred Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The film, which had some memorable songs and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, has attained a cult status among the audience.
Earlier, there were rumours that Arya and Janhvi Kapoor might replace Karthi and Tamannaah in ‘Paiyaa 2’, but now it is said that Karthi himself has agreed to reprise his role and Tamannaah might also join him. The official announcement of this project is expected soon.
The film ‘Paiyaa 2’ will be produced by Studio Green, which also bankrolled the first part. The film is expected to go on floors soon after Karthi wraps up his other commitments. The actor has a busy lineup of films, including ‘Japan’ directed by Raju Murugan.
‘Paiyaa 2’ will be a treat for the fans of Karthi and Tamannaah, who have shared a sizzling chemistry in their previous films. The duo has also worked together in ‘Siruthai’. It remains to be seen if Yuvan Shankar Raja will return as the music composer for the sequel, as his songs were one of the highlights of the original film.
The film will also mark the comeback of Lingusamy, who has been lying low after his last directorial ‘The Warrior’, which failed to impress the audience. The first film revolves around a young man who drives a woman from Bangalore to Mumbai while being chased by gangsters. The film was dubbed into Telugu as ‘Awara’ and remade in Bengali as ‘Jaaneman’ and in Kannada as ‘Ajith’.
