Vijay Sethupathi is working with a host of exciting projects after he had a successful box office run in 2022. These include his Bollywood début in Jawan, Merry Christmas, and Mumbaikaar. In a recent interview, the actor discussed his first experience working with Shah Rukh Khan and how he joined the Jawan crew. The actor mentioned that working with Shah Rukh Khan was very comfortable. He said, "I was very comfortable with him and he is very sweet."
In the recent national media interview Vijay Sethupathi said about how he got the role of the villain in Jawan. The Vikram star said that he first spoke to Shah Rukh Khan at the wedding of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan in June 2022. The actor also added that Shah Rukh Khan told him that the movie's production team is also hoping to cast him after he expressed a desire to play an antagonist opposite the Bollywood star during their conversation.
Vijay Sethupathi also admitted in the interview that he was nervous on his first day on the set of 'Jawan,' but that the Bollywood star made him feel at ease. He also said how much he enjoyed working with Shah Rukh Khan on the film. He said, "He was very sweet. It was a very good experience. I was a bit nervous on the first day, because he is a very big artiste, but he made me very comfortable. He didn’t have a scene on that day, but he was there to make me feel comfortable. He is very sweet; I can discuss with him… He is a gentleman; I really had a good time with Shah Rukh sir."
Speaking with news agency PTI, Vijay also said, "I had a good time working on Jawan with Atlee and Shah Rukh sir. He (Shah Rukh) is a gentleman, he will never show that I am in the industry for so many years and I am the superstar. Like, how I work with my co-actors, I could discuss (scenes) with him the same way. And then sometimes I would say, ‘sorry sir, if I disturb you’, he would say, ‘no Vijay, do it’. I was very comfortable with him and he is very sweet."
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Sanya Malhotra and Yogi Babu make up the supporting cast. The shooting of the film has commenced in September 2021 with filming took place in Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. It is scheduled for theatrical release on 2 June 2023. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music for the movie, which was produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment. The movie is being panned for a national audience in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
