Two Tamil films, Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru, have made history by ranking among the top 15 of IMDb’s Top-rated 250 Indian movies. The films, produced by 2D Entertainment, have received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for their powerful performances, gripping stories, and social messages.

Jai Bhim, starring Suriya, Lijomol Jose, and Manikandan, is a legal drama based on a true incident that involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru for the rights of a tribal couple who face police brutality and injustice. The film, directed by T. J. Gnanavel, was released on Amazon Prime Video  in 2021, and has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the plight of the marginalized communities and the corruption in the system. The film currently holds the 12th spot on the IMDb list with a rating of 8.7 out of 10.

Soorarai Pottru, also starring Suriya along with Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal, is a biographical drama inspired by the life of G. R. Gopinath, the founder of India’s first low-cost airline, Air Deccan. The film, directed by Sudha Kongara, showcases the struggles and challenges faced by the protagonist, Nedumaaran Rajangam, who dreams of making the common man fly.

The film was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2020 and has been lauded for its inspiring and uplifting story, as well as Suriya’s stellar performance. The film occupies the 13th position on the IMDb list with a rating of 8.7 out of 10.

2D Entertainment, the production house behind these two films, took to X to express their gratitude and happiness for the recognition and love they have received from the viewers.
