Trending Update: Makers of Ponniyin Selvan 2 drop the hot update on the film's first single release! Here're the deets you need to know

Fans of the epic Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan have been eagerly waiting for the release of the sequel of the film adaptation directed by the visionary filmmaker Maniratnam. The first part of the film, which was released on September 30th, 2022, was a massive hit at the box office and grossed around 500 crores. With the second part of the film set to release soon, fans are treated to the update on the release of the first single track from the film, "Aga Naga".

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Lyca Productions the home banner of the magnum opus wrote "Get ready to experience the magic of #AgaNaga in all its glory! 20th March. 6 PM. Stay tuned!". The song will be in the voice of Shakthi Shree Gopalan and the lyrics written by Ilango Krishnan. Ponniyin Selvan is a historical novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy and is considered a masterpiece in Tamil literature ever since the 1950s.

The poster for the first single track was released by the makers of the film, and it features the lead actors Trisha and Karthi in never seen setting,  who play the roles of Princess Kundhavai and Vandhiyathevan, respectively. Due in large part in the first film, the early hints and teases, the song has quickly become a fan favourite on the strength of its reputation as a soulful choir for the love between the two characters.

The epic film adaptation features an ensemble cast, including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, and others. The film is set in the 10th century and revolves around the Chola dynasty and their struggles for power. The first part of the film was well-received by critics and audiences alike, with many praising the visuals, performances, and storytelling.

The film was also praised for its attention to detail and accuracy in depicting the period. With the second part of the film set to release in a few weeks, fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story and the resolution of the cliffhangers left in the first part. Composed by A.R.Rahman the film has been shot by cinematographer Ravi Varman and edited by Sreekar Prasad, and was produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
