Trending: Pa. Ranjith's Thangalaan to have this special feature of Vikram!

Thangalaan is touted to be one of the most ambitious films of Pa Ranjith’s career, who is known for his socially relevant and politically charged films like Kaala, Kabali and Sarpatta Parambarai. The film is said to be based on a true story of a freedom fighter from Madurai, who fought against the British oppression.

The film, which is set in the pre-independence era is titled Thangalaan, The title announcement video and the first look and teaser released last year, and it was a fanfare to the fans. Now the latest sizzling update is that  the film will show Vikram in two different getups - One is 30 years young look and other is a aged old man look. The film’s music composed by G V Prakash Kumar, which has a folk and patriotic flavour.

The film also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Preeti Karan, Muthukumar and others in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by K E Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green and Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions.

The makers have recently completed the EVP schedule of the film, which involved shooting some crucial scenes with Vikram and Parvathy. The next schedule is expected to happen in Madurai for one week, where the pre-independence portions will be filmed. 

The story was reportedly told to Vikram by filmmaker Ranjith in 2014, but production on the film reportedly didn't begin until July 15 of this year, according to reports from the media.  Kishor Kumar and Selva RK are responsible for the cinematography and editing, respectively, with SS Murthi as the art director. The story is based on the real-life experiences of those who worked in the mines and factories of the Kolar Gold Factory during the time before India gained its independence.
