The much-awaited film ‘Vaadivaasal’, directed by Vetri Maaran and starring Suriya, has been in the limbo for three years since its official launch. Fans of the actor-director duo have been eagerly waiting for the film to go on floors, but the project seems to be facing several hurdles and delays.

According to a recent report, Suriya has decided to opt out of it. The report also claimed that Vetri Maaran has approached Dhanush, his frequent collaborator, to replace Suriya in the lead role. Dhanush, who has worked with Vetri Maaran in many critically acclaimed films like ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Asuran’, is said to be keen on taking up the offer.

However, another report has dismissed these rumours as baseless and stated that Suriya is still on board for ‘Vaadivaasal’. The report added that Vetri Maaran is busy wrapping up his other commitments and will start shooting for ‘Vaadivaasal’ as soon as possible. The report also assured that the official confirmation will be made soon by the makers of the film.

‘Vaadivaasal’ is based on the novel of the same name by C.S. Chellappa, which revolves around the ancient sport of jallikattu. The film is expected to showcase the culture and tradition of Tamil Nadu in a realistic and authentic manner. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under his banner V Creations.

The dropping rumour is not new as it was already the town's talk last year, and the film's producer cleared the air about the film's confident pre-preparation which was going on firmly. The same is expected from the producer, which is what fans are now looking for.
