Piracy has been an irking factor for the movie industry for many years as it has been leaving the producers, actors, and directors in a state of perplexion on seeing their latest movies are getting victimized by the pirates on the first day of the release and amid strong campaigns and efforts by the movie industry to curb such illegalities, piracy has been showing that it would be never-ending.
Vijay Sethupathi's 'Ka Pae Ranasingam' has become the recent victim of piracy. The movie has released on October 2 and it has been the first to premiere on a pay-per-view format in India. However, the movie-team had got only two hours to celebrate the release on a pay-per-view format as, after two hours, the movie was available for download on the piracy site 'Tamil Rockers'.
To the shock of the movie team and fans of Vijay Sethupathi as they have been eagerly waiting to watch their favorite actor's film given its story and crew, the piracy site had uploaded links to high definition quality version of the film along with subtitles. According to reports, the movie was released at 12 noon on Friday exclusively on the Zee Plex platform, and within two hours of release, it was pirated by Tamil Rockers, levying trouble for the movie both on the entertainment and financial corridors.
Initially, the movie was lined up for the theatrical release. However, as the sequel of the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown triggered by the pandemic, the production team had decided to walk on the new feet -OTT platform and to release it on Zee Plex. The movie was produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh (KJR Studios) and directed by P Virumandi.
While speaking a news agency regarding the OTT release, Rajesh said that they had a strong anti-piracy team with the view of ensuring that piracy won't happen and he stated the movie is acquiring the court orders applicable to the entire country to take down any piracy websites that leak the movie illegally. He also hoped to curb the risk of piracy.
However, the movie has now been pirated and released by the piracy site with the high-quality which had stunned the total movie team and the industry as there are some producers who are mulling to release the movie on OTT platforms with having no clear idea when the Tamil Nadu government would re-open the theaters.
