Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has on Tuesday come forward to support the Tamil Nadu government's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by extending a donation to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Public Relief Fund (CMPRF). The actor has met Chief Minister MK Stalin at the Chief Secretariat and handed over the cheque of Rs 25 lakh to the public relief fund.

Vijay Sethupathi has become the latest Kollywood star to extend his contribution to the public fund's coffin to support the state government in its fight against the pandemic and enhancing the medical infrastructure to addressing the health crisis.

The stars like Rajinikanth, Ajith, Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi, Sivakarthikeyan, Shankar, Vetrimaaran, Soori, Jayam Ravi, Mohan Raja, and Soundarya Rajinikanth were among the club of donating to the public relief fund.

Apart from the celebrities, scores of business people and entrepreneurs had donated to the public relief fund either by meeting Chief Minister MK Stalin or through online. Earlier last month, the Chief Minister has appealed to the people and celebrities to donate to the relief fund to help the government's effort in containing the pandemic.

MK Stalin has asserted that transparency will be kept in using the funds and they will be used for Covid-19 related measures. The public fund has received hundreds of crores so far and the government has been dispersing the fund to procure medical equipment for the state including oxygen cylinders to address the dearth of oxygen cylinders.

On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi is currently working on the upcoming Malayalam film '19(1)(a)' and it will mark Vijay Sethupathi's second Malayalam movie. The actor has many projects in the pipeline including 'Laabam', 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal', and 'Vidhuthalai'. He will also be hosting a reality show 'Master Chef Tamil', which will be aired soon.
