A delightful treat awaits as Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif join forces for the Tamil-Hindi bilingual film 'Merry Christmas,' directed by Sriram Raghavan. Set to hit the theaters on January 12, the movie promises a unique blend of thriller and entertainment.

During a press conference in Chennai on January 7, a reporter attempted to delve into the political landscape of Tamil Nadu over the past 75 years, asserting a historic resistance to Hindi. He also seemed to irk the actor with the same questions on Hindi opposition by Tamil people.

However, Vijay Sethupathi, with his characteristic candour, interrupted to clarify that the opposition was not against the language itself but rather against the imposition of Hindi. The actor passionately emphasized, "Hindi, as a language, was never opposed."

Undeterred, the reporter persisted, inquiring whether people should learn Hindi. Vijay Sethupathi, unapologetically, defended his stance, reminding the journalist of a similar question posed to Aamir Khan in the past.

Handling the situation ease, he clarified the repetition question, stating, "We never said no to Hindi. We are against the Hindi imposition. There's a difference between both. People are learning Hindi here, and no one is against that. Your question is wrong and is irrelevant. No one is stopping anyone from learning Hindi. Even PTR (Minister Thyagarajan) has given an explanation for this; please see that."

Merry Christmas is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Kewal Garg, and Jaya Taurani, and distributed by Lyca Productions and Pen Studios. The film’s cinematography is done by Madhu Neelakandan, and the film has been edited by Pooja Ladha Surti, who is also the co-writer of the film along with Raghavan.
