The town has been brewing with the new poster from Shankar, the director of Indian 2, who has unveiled a new poster from their upcoming magnum opus. The poster, which was released on the occasion of Independence Day, features Kamal Haasan in a completely different avatar as he reprises his role as Senapathy, the freedom fighter turned vigilante.

The poster has created a huge buzz among the netizens, who are eagerly awaiting the release of the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian. Indian 2 is one of the most anticipated films in Tamil cinema, as it marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Shankar after 25 years. The duo had delivered a massive hit with Indian, which won Kamal Haasan his fourth National Film Award for his dual performance as Senapathy and Chandru, father and son.

The new poster of Indian 2 shows Kamal Haasan in a khaki uniform with a tricolour badge on his chest, standing next to a platform with tricolour balloons in the background. The poster also has the text ‘Happy Independence Day’ written on it. Kamal Haasan looks unrecognisable as he sports a salt-and-pepper beard and a stern expression on his face, indicating that he is ready to take on the corrupt and evil forces in the society.

The poster has received a positive response from the fans and celebrities alike, who have praised Kamal Haasan’s look and Shankar’s vision. The director had earlier shared another poster of Kamal Haasan as Senapathy on his birthday last year, which had also generated a lot of excitement among the audience.

Indian 2 has been in the making for a long time, as it faced several hurdles due to various reasons. The film’s shooting was halted in February 2020, when a freak accident on the sets killed three crew members and injured many others. The film also faced legal issues between Shankar and the producers Lyca Productions over the completion of the project. However, with the intervention of actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, who came on board as an additional producer, the film was revived and resumed shooting in September last year.

Indian 2 boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram and Gulshan Grover in key roles, apart from Kamal Haasan. The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who had earlier collaborated with Kamal Hassan for Vikram. The film is expected to hit the screens in April 2024, and will be released in multiple languages across India and abroad.

Indian 2 is not only a sequel to a cult classic, but also a tribute to Kamal Haasan’s illustrious career and legacy.  His latest film Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has received rave reviews from the critics and audience alike, and has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. He is also have KH233, KH234, and Vikram 2.
