Popular actress Jyothika is all set to make a historical debut in Malayalam after she joined hands with legendary icon Mammootty. The poster of the new project, which has been designed with what appears to be an old picture of the celebrated stars, has been going viral on social media as the announcement of the project was unveiled on the occasion of Jyothika's birthday. 

The upcoming period drama 'Kaathal: The Core' will be directed by Jeo Baby, who rose to fame through 'The Great Indian Kitchen'. Jyothika, a seasoned actress, has been focusing more on female-centric subjects since making a comeback in 2015 with "36 Vayadhinile". She last appeared in the Era Saravanan-directed film Udanpirappe.

The new first-look poster for the movie Kaathal the core was unveiled on the occasion of the actress's 44th birthday. In a Malayalam film starring megastar Mammootty, Jyothika plays the lead role. The movie's lead actors are suited up in vintage styles in the first look poster. The project will be penned by Paulson Skaria and Adarsh Sukumaran. 

The movie is being produced by Mammootty under the name Mammootty Kampany. By the end of the year, the project will start on the floors. According to reports, it will be the first complete Malayalam project pursued by Jyothika and taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Mammootty released the movie posters. The actor wrote, "Here's unveiling the title of Mammootty Kampany's next project directed by Jeo Baby. Kaathal - The Core. Wishing a very happy birthday to Jyotika." 

Sharing the posters, actor Suriya tweeted, "From day one, this film's idea & every step taken by Dir Jeo Baby & team Mammooty Kampany is so good!! Wishing Mammooty, Jo and team the best for Kaathal: The Core. Happy happy birthday Jo!!!". Responding to Suriya's wishes, Mammootty wrote, "Thank you, dear Suriya." Recently, Jyothika received the National Award for producing the movie 'Soorarai Pottru', which was awarded under the best feature film category. Actor Suriya won the Best Actor award for the same movie from President Draupadi Murmu.
