After the stupendous success of Jai Bhim, actor Suriya tasted success and the film marked a special work in the actor's career. Directed by T J Gnanavel, the film was released on Prime Video, on 2nd November 2021. Recently, speaking at the Indian Panorama Feature Film Section at IFFI 53, Jai Bhim producer Rajasekar has spilled the beans that the sequel to Jai Bhim is in the making.

Twenty non-feature films and twenty-five features, including RRR by S.S. Rajamouli, Jai Bhim by Suriya, and The Kashmir Files among others, have been selected for the Indian Panorama, the flagship section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which held in Goa from from November 20th to November 28th, 2022.

During one of the 'Table Talks' sessions organized by PIB amidst the festival, Gnanavel and Rajasekhar discussed the inspiration for the film's title, Jai Bhim, with members of the media and festival attendees. Director TJ Gnanavel gushed about the film's IFFI debut, noting that its universal subject matter resonated with viewers. The director has highlighted the power of film to bring about social transformation.

He said, "For me, the word Jai Bhim is synonymous with the word oppressed and marginalized people for whom Dr BR Ambedkar always stood for." Producer Rajasekar, who was also present, announced that plans for a sequel to the film "Jai Bhim" are in the works and that discussions about the project have begun. He said, "They are in the pipeline since the discussions have already started".

He also added that he had originally approached Suriya to aid with the film's production, but that the actor had expressed interest in acting in the film after hearing the story. Based on a true incident from 1993 involving a case fought by former judge Justice K. Chandru, who was then an advocate, the film follows the lives of Sengeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe, as they deal with police bias and violence against their marginalized community. Made by 2D Entertainment, from Jyothika and Suriya, T. J. Gnanavel's Jai Bhim was a phenomenal film of the year, with all positive reception from the critics.
