Viral story: What OPS took from the ADMK office and what's in the complaint filed by the EPS camp?

A day after the ADMK announced the new leadership which in turn triggered new tensions in the ongoing leadership tussle between Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) and O Panneerselvam (OPS), the EPS camp has lodged a complaint against the OPS camp by alleging that the latter has theft important documents from the ADMK headquarters in Royapettah when the OPS camp stormed the premises on Monday when EPS conducted the General Council meeting.

On Monday, OPS and his supporters have sieged the ADMK head office to showcase that the party is under their control and to oppose the decision of EPS to conduct the General Council meeting in which he was elevated as the party's interim General Secretary. The ADMK head office had witnessed riots as the cadres of both camps clashed with each other and burnt the effigies of their rival leaders.

After EPS has become the interim General Secretary, the ADMK meeting passed the resolution of removing OPS from the party. Following the resolution, the party has announced that OPS has been expelled from the post of Treasurer and from the primary membership of ADMK. The announcement had sparked unrest within the party and the visuals from the party's office have shown that the supporters of OPS were carrying a bunch of documents and loading them in their vehicles.

The pictures were going viral and according to reports, OPS was aware that he could be sacked from the post of Treasurer and his camp decided to take the documents that were signed by him including the cheque leaves and other important documents when he was part of the leadership unit. With a view to stalling the financial operations of the party that were signed by him, OPS has taken the documents and he went on to threaten the party's official bankers that he would sue them if they process the financial matters of the party that weren't signed by him.

While OPS had taken the documents, the EPS camp has on Tuesday filed a complaint against OPS by alleging that the latter had stolen the documents from the party's office. ADMK's south Chennai district secretary Aadhi Rajaram, a supporter of EPS, has filed a complaint at the Royapettah police alleging theft of documents and other important items from the party headquarters by O Panneerselvam and his supporters.

In his complaint, Rajaram has alleged that the ruckus created outside the ADMK head office as a planned attack and trespassing. He sought action against MLAs and OPS supporters R Vaithilingam, JCB Prabhakar, Manoj Pandian, and a few others and urged the police to recover the items stolen by the OPS camp from the party's office when the General Council meeting was underway in Vanagaram.

It must be noted that in the wake of political riots, the Revenue authorities in Chennai have Monday sealed ADMK headquarters and the local police have taken the office under their custody. Within hours of the violence, the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the cadres from the area after which Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) had sealed the party headquarters while the police had imposed a curfew to contain the violence.
