In a display of heartfelt admiration, the enigmatic actor Kamal Haasan, donning the mantle of the vigilant Senapathy once again in the much-anticipated sequel 'Indian 2,' has bestowed his unwavering praise upon the visionary director Shankar for his exceptional craftsmanship on this cinematic endeavor.

He took to Twitter on Wednesday and wrote in Tamil, “I watched the main scenes of ‘Indian 2’ today. My best wishes @shankarshanmugh. My advice is that this should not be your peak. Because this is the highest stage of your artistic life. Don’t take this to be the top and scale higher. In search of many new heights.”

‘Indian 2’ is one of the most anticipated films of 2023, as it marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Shankar after a gap of 24 years. The film is a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster ‘Indian’, which featured Kamal Haasan in dual roles as a freedom fighter and his son, who fights against corruption in modern India. The first film  starred Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Sukanya and Goundamani in pivotal roles.

Holding the same hype, the sequel brings the ensemble cast that includes S.J. Suryah, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Vennela Kishore and Deepa Shankar. The film is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, with music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Ravi Varman and Rathnavelu.

The shooting of ‘Indian 2’ has faced several hurdles since its announcement in 2017. The film was delayed due to various reasons such as budget issues, legal disputes, COVID-19 pandemic and a fatal crane accident on the sets that killed three crew members and injured several others in February 2020 The production was suspended for more than a year before resuming in August 2022.

However, the film ran into trouble again recently when the shoot was halted abruptly at the Chennai airport due to no proper permissions. The team had planned to shoot some crucial scenes involving Kamal Haasan and other actors at the airport, but they were asked to stop by the authorities as they did not have the required clearance. The team is now trying to sort out the issue and resume the shoot as soon as possible.

Despite all these challenges, the maverick filmmaker and his team has managed to impress the thespian star with his visuals and untouchable creativity. The fans are eagerly waiting to see the final product on the big screen and witness the return of Senapathy after more than two decades.
