VJ Chitra's death: How the shocking demise of the actor stirred a clash of different claims?

Popular Tamil TV actor and host VJ Chitra's body was cremated at Besant Nagar in Chennai on Thursday amid the huge gathering of actors and her fans. The 29-year-old actor was found dead in a hotel room in Chennai in the wee hours of Wednesday and her untimely demise had shocked her fans and fraternities.

Amid paying tribute to the talented and hard-working actor, the fans and some of her close friends in the industry had alleged foul play in her death and they suspected the role of her fiance, who was in the same room where she was found dead, and stated that it was not a suicide and it was murder as Chitra was a brave woman and she wouldn't have committed suicide. The actor's friends had demanded a fair probe into her death to deliver justice. 

She was found dead in the hotel room at around 3.30 am on Wednesday following which the hotel, which is in Nazrathpet, Chennai had informed the police department after which the police had rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to autopsy to the Kilpauk Medical College in the city. The police had also taken her fiance Hemnath and hotel staff into custody for investigation. 

Some of her friends had claimed foul play in her death and her father, who is a retired police officer, had filed a complaint with the Nazrathpet police station demanding a fair probe into her death and the fans had also called for justice. However, the postmortem report, which was issued on Thursday, had confirmed that she had committed suicide and ruled out the grounds of murder. The postmortem report has come when the actor was on the final journey.

Based on the post-mortem report, the police had concluded that she had died by suicide. The actor was cremated in Besant Nagar in the evening hours of Thursday and however, the family members and relatives had alleged foul play. The relatives of the actor had alleged the possibility of physical violence and they demanded full investigations. The police department had said that the allegations made by the family will be probed. 

Speaking to the reporters, Chitra's mother Vijaya has alleged physical violence by her son-in-law Hemanth and her mother said that Chitra was beaten to death. Her relatives had claimed wounds on Chitra's body and demanded a full probe into her death, but the police didn't confirm about the wounds. The Revenue Divisional Officer has been investigating the death as per the norm that Chitra had died within seven years of marriage. 

Chitra and Hemnath had got engaged in August and they had a simple registered marriage in October. Chitra, who was a resident of Thiruvanmiyur in Chennai, was staying with her fiance in Nazrathpet in the outskirts of the city, and hours before her death, Chitra had shared her pictures on Instagram from a photoshoot in which she was seen dressed in a purple and green silk saree. 

Chitra rose to fame by acting in the role of Mullai Kathiravan in Pandian stores, which has become one of the most-watched soap-operas in Tamil Nadu and Chitra had gained the limelight as one of the rising talents in the Tamil industry and the reports say that she was said to have signed to play an important role in an upcoming Tamil film.
