The accomplished singer, known for her mellifluous voice, has a decorated career in the Tamil film industry, having sung in over 25,000 songs.

It is pertinent to note that Chitra got engaged to Hemanth in August 2020 and the couple had done register marriage in October 2020, two months ahead of her death. 

Hemnath, who is a businessman based in Chennai, was arrested on December 15 on the charges of abetment of suicide. 

While the autopsy report had confirmed that she had committed suicide, Chitra's family and relatives had claimed foul play in her death.

Notable actors and thousands of fans had paid their tributes following which her body was taken to Besant Nagar and it was cremated on Thursday evening.

The postmortem report has come at a high time when some of the close friends of the actor had alleged foul play in her death and she wouldn't have committed suicide.

Chitra's father, who is a retired police officer, had filed a complaint with the Nazrathpet Police station demanding a fair probe into her death.
