The epic drama Ponniyin Selvan 2 is all set to take the audience on a amusing ride with its much-awaited release next month on April 28th 2023. Directed by the legendary filmmaker Maniratnam, the sequel is a much-anticipated follow-up to the successful first film of the franchise.And now the makers have started dropping exciting updates, making the fans  more pumped for the release.

The latest update comes from the production house Lyca Productions, which took to Twitter on Saturday and shared a video featuring the charming Karthi as Vandhiyathevan. They wrote, "Charming. Cheeky. Courageous. See how @Karthi_Offl transforms into everyone’s beloved #Vanthiyathevan! 1st Single from 20th March at 6PM!".

In the video, Karthi transforms into the character of the beloved Vandhiyathevan, showcasing his dedication towards the film. He describes how the costume and location of the scene provide him with the grounding he needs to perform his best. The video also highlights the efforts of the costume team in putting together the perfect look for the character.

The film's home banner also announced the release of the film's first single, "Aga Naga," on 20th March, adding to the excitement of the fans. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, and many others. Composed by Isai Puyal AR Rahman, he film has been shot by cinematographer Ravi Varman and edited by Sreekar Prasad,  and production design by Thota Tharani.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is an adaptation of the historical novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The story is set in the 10th century and follows the journey of Prince Arulmozhi Varman, who eventually becomes the legendary king Rajaraja Chola. The film promises to be an epic drama filled with intrigue, romance, and battles, capturing the essence of the novel in a cinematic experience.
