In what would become another feather in the cap for his ardent fans on celebrating his original and flawless acting, actor Vijay Sethupathi is all set to rock Tollywood as taking a major leap forward, the actor has earned a significant point in his career, that was majorly filled with Tamil movies. In relishing news for his fans, Vijay Sethupathi's upcoming Telugu movie 'Uppena' is a week ahead of the theatrical release and the movie's trailer has now been released.

The trailer of 'Uppena' has received major reception across and beyond the borders and it has promised a perfect treat for the ardent fans of Vijay Sethupathi. Uppena will be getting released on February 12, 2021, and the trailer shows that the story revolves around a love story in a village of the fishing community. According to reports, the movie will also deal with the caste killings. 

Produced by Naveen Yerenini, Ravi Shankar, and Sukumar under their respective banners Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, Uppena is directed by Bucchi Babu Sana, who is making his directorial debut through this movie. While Panja Vaisshnav Tej will play the lead role, Krithi Shetty will be the female lead and Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist. 

The movie has been produced on a budget of Rs 10 crore and Devi Sri Prasad will be scoring music for the movie and Shamdat will take the role of cinematographer. The film is reportedly set in the backdrop of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, based on honor killings. After a launch ceremony in January 2019, the makers commenced the principal shoot in May 2019 and wrapped up in January 2020. 

The film was slated for release on April 2, 2020, but the release was postponed in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown.  After a year of completing the shooting, the movie will now be released on February 12, 2021. Uppena will be the second Telugu movie for Vijay Sethupathi after Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in which he shared the screen space with legendary actors like Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan. 

Uppena star Panja Vaishnav Tej is the younger brother of Sai Dharam Tej and Chiranjeevi's nephew. Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty will be making their debut.  According to reports, Vijay Sethupathi will be playing as the father of the female lead and the actor had even decided to remake the movie under his own banner after getting impressed by the storyline. 

Vijay Sethupathi was lastly seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial 'Master' where he played the character of Bhavani, against Thalapathy Vijay. Master is the first big Tamil movie that got released in the theaters after the COVID-19 lockdown and the movie has garnered massive reception across and beyond the borders with grossing over Rs 200 crore in ten days of release and the movie is still running across the theaters even after it was released on Amazon Prime. 

Master has become a significant movie in Vijay Sethupathi's career and the actor has Tamil movies like Seenu Ramasamy's directorial 'Maamanithan', SP Jananathan's directorial 'Laabam', Vignesh Shivn's directorial 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal', and Delhi Prasad Deenadayal's directorial 'Tughlaq Durbar' in the pipeline.
