Chandru fought, and it centres on the lives of Sengeni and Rajakannu, who were violently taken into custody by the police. The movie received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, who praised the plot, performances, direction, and social message. Several media outlets hailed the movie as "one of the best Tamil and Indian films of 2021." The movie didn't make the 94th Academy Awards shortlist, but it won the Noida International Film Festival for best actor and actress for Suriya and Lijomol Jose. . In addition to the controversy the actor and the filmmaker who claimed that the film insulted their community, the Madras High Court dismissed the complaint and ruled that there was no harm in the movie. According to the official website of the Beijing International Film Festival (BIFF) page, Tiantan Award is the official competition section of BJIFF, and each year comprises a maximum of 17 full-length feature films. During the festival, a seven-member jury committee will watch the shortlisted films and select the films and filmmakers to be awarded in ten categories. Tiantan Award includes 10 award categories: Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Artistic Contribution, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Music. The 12th Beijing International Film Festival will be held in Beijing, China from August 13th to 20th, 2022.The winners will be announced at the Closing & Awards Ceremony of the 12th BJIFF.
