The fans of Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director of the blockbuster film Kaithi, have been eagerly waiting for the sequel of the action thriller that starred Karthi as Dilli, a convict on parole who gets involved in a deadly mission to save a group of police officers.

The film ended with a cliffhanger that hinted at Dilli’s mysterious past and his encounter with his old enemy. However, Lokesh Kanagaraj has been busy with other projects such as Leo, starring Vijay and Trisha, and a rumoured film with Rajinikanth, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171.

Recently, Lokesh Kanagaraj attended a college function where he was bombarded with questions about his upcoming films. He revealed that he has completed the shooting of Leo and is currently working on its post-production. He also confirmed that he will direct another film after Leo, and then he will start working on Kaithi 2.

He did not disclose any details about the film before Kaithi 2, but he did not deny the speculation that it is with Rajinikanth. He said that the announcement should come from the production side. Lokesh Kanagaraj also assured his fans that the audio launch of Leo will take place in September and the film will hit the screens on October 19.

Leo is one of the most anticipated films of the year as it marks the second collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vijay after Master. The film also features an ensemble cast of Sanjay Dutt, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Anurag Kashyap in pivotal roles.

Kaithi 2, on the other hand, is expected to go on floors in 2023, according to actor Karthi. He had earlier said that he is looking forward to reprising his role as Dilli and exploring his backstory. He also hinted that his brother Suriya might make a cameo appearance in the film as a cop. Kaithi 2 will be produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, who also bankrolled the first part.
