Amid the uproar protests, and demonstrations that have been carried out by thousands across Tamil Nadu by condemning the police crackdown on the protesters who protested against the CAA, NRC, and NPR on Friday in Chennai, the state political leaders had taken the mixed reactions over the incident.

The state opposition political leaders have, on Saturday, demanded action against the police personnel who reportedly involved in unleashing the excessive forces against the protesters who staged protests in Chennai against the controversial CAA on Friday evening. Thousands of men and women belong to Muslim communities have gathered in Washermenpet and voiced against the CAA during which the clashes have erupted between protesters and police personnel. By accusing the crackdown, DMK President Stalin said that the protests were peaceful and urged the police to ratify why it has deployed excessive forces against the demonstrations. He strongly condemned the police force of the ruling ADMK government which spurred the violence against the peaceful protesters who voiced to repeal the CAA, NRC, and NPR. He termed the night of violence as a black night and added that this government exhibits unruly administration that, along with failing to uphold the democracy, executes violence on those who protest peacefully and democratically.

He further stated that the lathi charge was done unnecessarily against the people for no reason that had prompted the protests across the state. Stalin further slashed the ruling ADMK government for voting in favor of CAA in Parliament and not adopting the anti-CAA resolution in the state assembly.

DMK MP Kanimozhi stated that the violence against the protesters wouldn't have been caused if the police handled the agitation sensitively and sensibly whereas Vaiko led MDMK party had passed and adopted the resolution in the meeting of the party secretaries against the police action of using forces against the protesters.
