With shelving back-to-back consistently promising movies like Adukalam, Vadachennai, and Asuran in his store, director Vetrimaaran is gearing up for the release of his next humongous project 'Viduthalai' in which actor Soori plays the lead role for the first time.

After a long hiatus, the movie team unveiled new posters of Viduthalai on Thursday - September 1, which were in a fashion of a riveting thriller. Interestingly, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi joins hands with Vetrimaaran for the first time and shares screen space with Soori, who features as a police officer. The posters suggest that Vijay Sethupathi would rock the screen as the antagonist, which is the actor's latest trend.

While Viduthalai is bankrolled by Elred Kumar under his banner of RS Infotainment, the movie is distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Red Giant Movies'. On Thursday, Red Giant Movies took to Twitter and wrote, "Excited to announce our next release Viduthalai, in association with Vetrimaaran and RS Infotainment." Both the stars have sported ferocious looks in the posters and it has been reported that Viduthalai will be released in two parts.

Viduthalai is adapted from the short story 'Thunaivan' written by Jeyamohan. Yet another interesting element is the music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, where he collaborates with Vetrimaaran for the first time. Besides Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, the movie has also roped in Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bhavani Sre, Prakash Raj, Rajiv Menon, and Chetan in important roles.

Actor Soori has shared the posters and thanked Red Giant Movies. Vijay Sethupathi wrote, "Blockbuster combo RS Infotainment and Red Giant Movies is back again for the National Award winner Vetrimaaran's next Viduthalai." While Velraj has done cinematography, Peter Hein is the stunt director. Major scenes of the movie were filmed in Sathyamangalam, Dindigul's Sirumalai, and Panrutty. It has been touted that Viduthalai will hit the theatres in October.
