She was tested positive for the viral infection on Thursday and she has been getting treated at COVID-19 Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Victoria Hospital.
Sasikala would be getting released on January 27 and on Wednesday, she complained of breathing difficulty following which the prison authorities had rushed her to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in the city.
Her sudden hospitalization days ahead of her release had shocked her family members and some of her family members had gone to Bangalore hospital to visit her.
The development has come a day after it was officially confirmed that she will be walking out of the prison on January 27, ahead of the crucial Tamil Nadu assembly polls
The ADMK party has on Tuesday, after the confirmation of Sasikala's release, announced that the party would be organizing the meet with the district secretaries on January 22.
So far, dozens of legislators, ministers, and political leaders were tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu of which some of them had died due to the health complications of the infection.
Edappadi Palaniswami, who is also ADMK's Co-convenor, had stirred speculations through his announcement that came shortly after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday.
Tamil Nadu Minister and senior ADMK leader D Jayakumar castigated Gurumurthy and said that he should offer his advice to US President Donald Trump and not the ADMK.
