The death of Vignesh had stirred outrage from the state demanding to cancel the exam by citing that the national entrance exam is unfair towards students coming from rural areas and from working-class families.

With the current reporting of 991 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,45,606 cases so far of which 1,31,840 cases have been discharged and 2,921 had died of the pandemic. 

The official said that such targets in collecting fines are necessary to ensure that the official deployed on this duty would take it seriously.

These mini-clinics would be established in areas that are either don't have access or sit far away from the Primary Healthcare Centers.

The fresh relaxations have come a week after the government has poured large-scale mitigation of the lockdown as part of the fourth phase of unlocking the nationwide lockdown. 

The authorities attribute the decline to the relaxations as several offices and establishments have been allowed to resume and people are coming outdoor and they spent less time in their homes. 

The students had got settled up for the new normal after the government had encouraged the schools to teach the students through online. 

The General Council meeting has been convened months ahead of the state legislative elections and days ahead of the legislative assembly session.

The students are in the state of perplexion on whether they would be declared pass or they ought to appear for the exams amid the pandemic.

With the current reporting of 988 fresh cases, Chennai has recorded 1,43,602 cases so far of which 1,29,677 have been discharged and 2,896 had died due to the global pandemic.
