The death of Vignesh had stirred outrage from the state demanding to cancel the exam by citing that the national entrance exam is unfair towards students coming from rural areas and from working-class families.
With the current reporting of 991 cases, Chennai has recorded 1,45,606 cases so far of which 1,31,840 cases have been discharged and 2,921 had died of the pandemic.
The fresh relaxations have come a week after the government has poured large-scale mitigation of the lockdown as part of the fourth phase of unlocking the nationwide lockdown.
The authorities attribute the decline to the relaxations as several offices and establishments have been allowed to resume and people are coming outdoor and they spent less time in their homes.
With the current reporting of 988 fresh cases, Chennai has recorded 1,43,602 cases so far of which 1,29,677 have been discharged and 2,896 had died due to the global pandemic.
