Earlier this week, a 16-year-old girl had died after eating Shawarma in an eatery in the Kasaragod district. It was found that the Levantine dish was served with rotten chicken.
Appalled by these incidents, the Tamil Nadu Food Department had launched a massive raid across the state, that was similar to the raids carried out in Kerala.
The incident had drawn quick attention as the dish has spurred a debate recently after a school student in Kerala's Kasaragod died after eating Shawarma.
Manju Warrier had on Wednesday filed a police complaint against Sasidharan in which she has accused the director of repeatedly insulting and threatening her on social media.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the directions have been issued to the food safety commissioner to ensure neat and clean preparation of the dish for the customers.
Sasidharan had previously directed Manju Warrier in the movie 'Kayattam' and in his post, he said that the managers of the actress are the reason why she is in detention.
After learning that a case has been filed, the actor went to a hideout following which the police zeroed in to trace him and a lookout notice has been issued against him.
Besides his prominent Governorship, Sankaranarayanan had served as an MLA four times in Kerala and had held finance, excise, and agriculture portfolios in various governments of Kerala.
Actor Prithviraj wrote, "Rest in peace Lalitha aunty! It was a privilege to have shared the silver screen with you! One of the finest actors I've known."
