Mani Ratnam's knack to bring one of Tamil literature's most acclaimed novels to life on screen is a testament to his vision and skill as a director.

The video showcases the stunning visuals, grand sets, elaborate costumes and impressive performances of the actors. 

In Tamil Nadu alone, the film has made more than Rs 100 crore, becoming the 15th film to achieve this feat in the state.

Shankar is also reportedly planning to direct a historical epic based on the novel ‘Velpari’ by Su Venkatesan.

The film has also created a huge buzz in the international markets, especially in North America, and it has collected over 10 crores in Kerala alone.

Some fans have also defended Mani Ratnam’s choice and said that he has given an optimistic ending which better suits for the cinematic world. 

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala  have all reported healthy box office returns for the flick.

However, this will be her first full-fledged role in a Tamil film and that too opposite Kamal Haasan, who is known for his acting prowess and versatility.

The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes, and opened to 3200 screens worldwide as per reports.

Aditha Karikalan's innocence also hangs in the balance, and his fate could have a major impact on the future of the Chola empire.
