The film was a huge blockbuster when it first released, and also became a sensation in Japan, where it was dubbed as ‘Muthu Odoru Maharaja’.

The trophy, which was designed by London-based jeweller Garrard & Co, features a golden globe held up by three silver columns, representing batting, bowling and fielding.

His demise was the talk of the town and parallelly, there were several speculations doing rounds over the cause of his death. 

Actor Jayam Ravi wrote, "RIP my friend Sagar. You fought so bravely. My heart goes out to Meena and Nainika. Our prayers to overcome this loss."
