On Sunday, Tamil Nadu has reported 28,897 fresh COVID-19 cases, which had become the highest single-day rise recorded by the state since the outbreak began. 

By issuing the ban on the TASMAC outlets across the state during the tenure of the lockdown, the government has asserted that the Amma Canteens will be functioning.  

The supporters of the opposition parties and the critics have claimed that the DMK government has intentionally increased the price of milk at Rs 6 and then later reduced it to Rs 3.

The first assembly session of the 16th assembly will be taking place when the state would under complete lockdown in the wake of the exponential rise of the COVID-19 cases. 

Chief Minister MK Stalin has also appointed Thamaraikannan IPS as the ADGP for Law and Order and Davidson Devasirvatham IPS as the Chief of State Intelligence.

The complete lockdown will be imposed from May 10 and the government has banned intra and inter-district transportations during the course of the lockdown.

More importantly, the government has announced a ban on inter and intra-district transportation and no public and private transports will ply between the districts during the lockdown.

Udhayachandran, who is currently the Principal Secretary/ Commissioner of Archaeology will be posted as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister with immediate effect.

Through appointing Irai Anbu, Stalin has displayed that he is committed to building a robust administration in addressing the pandemic and other forms of crisis. 

These orders have become crucial as they had concentrated on relaxing the burden of low and middle-class people as they endure financial distress brought by the pandemic.
