Tamil Nadu police have been rolling out a crackdown measure as 'Operation Ganja Vettai' to curb the drug peddlers across the state.

He was associated with ADMK and he has died in a fatal accident after the party's flag pole was fallen on him while repairing its damage. 

On Wednesday, the special court bench comprising of Justice Kirubakaran Mathuram pronounced the verdict that Devapitchai was found guilty under the POCSO Act. 

One-and-a-half-year after becoming MLA, Udhayanidhi has now become a minister, which is his new political level that displayed his journey towards political peak.

Besides elevating his son as a cabinet minister, MK Stalin overhauled his council of ministers by allocating and shifting portfolios for a handful of ministers.

Udhayanidhi has been inducted into the cabinet during his very first term as an MLA and as he entered the Chief Secretariat as a minister, he was given a rousing welcome by the cabinet ministers. 

As he has become a minister in his very first term as an MLA, Udhayanidhi has been awarded with important portfolios  - Special Programme Implementation and Youth Welfare and Sports Development. 

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has administered the oath of office to Udhayanidhi and ceremony was held for about ten minutes at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. 

The stage is set for his political elevation and amidst the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony, a senior minister has said that Udhayanidhi should have been made a minister earlier.
