Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai 1, which released earlier this year, was a smashing hit that won critical acclaim and box office success. The political crime thriller, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, focused on the conflict between the police department and a vigilante group led by a social activist named Vaathiyaar. While Soori played the role of an honest junior cop who helps nab Vaathiyaar, Vijay Sethupathi had a cameo appearance as the elusive leader of the rebels.

But the sequel, Viduthalai 2, will be a different story altogether. The film will chronicle the life and rise of Vaathiyaar and his struggle against the oppressive system. Vijay Sethupathi will have a full-fledged role in the second part, while Soori’s character will have a lesser screen time. The film, which has music by Ilayaraja and is produced by Elred Kumar, also features an ensemble cast of Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Balaji Shakthivel,Thamizh, Prakash Raj and Surya Vijay Sethupathi.

And now, the latest buzz is that Vetrimaaran has roped in Mollywood Lady Superstar Manju Warrier to play the female lead opposite Vijay Sethupathi in Viduthalai 2. Manju Warrier, who made her Tamil debut with Vetrimaaran’s Asuran, playing the wife of Dhanush, has impressed the audiences with her performance and versatility. She followed it up with Thunivu, in which she shared screen space with Ajith, and is currently playing the chief antagonist in Mr. X, that has Gautham Karthik and Arya in the lead.

Manju Warrier’s involvement in Viduthalai 2 is expected to be announced officially after the agreement formalities are completed. The film is currently being shot in Sirumalai forest in Dindigul district, where Vijay Sethupathi’s portions are being developed. It is said that Manju Warrier will join the shoot soon and will have some intense scenes with Vijay Sethupathi.

Viduthalai 2 is one of the most anticipated films of next year, as it promises to be a gripping tale of rebellion and resistance, with Vetrimaaran’s trademark style and Vijay Sethupathi’s charisma. And with Manju Warrier joining the team, the expectations have gone up even higher.
