Muntashir Shukla’s apology comes after the Allahabad High Court’s observations on June 27, where it admonished the filmmakers for putting the tolerance of Hindus to test.

 The film opened to a decent collection of Rs 37 crore on its first day with Rs 140 crore worldwide gross.

The film, which is inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, has faced objections from various groups for its depiction of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Ravana. 

"Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan shouldn't have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema."

The development has come as an irony at a high time when the Hindutva bodies and supporters have been praising the movie to the skies.

The film, which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, has been accused of distorting facts, hurting religious sentiments, plagiarising artwork and using poor visual effects. 

To the delight of the fans, a monkey swung into the theatre during the showtime of the film. The fans erupted in joy and sang Jai Sri Ram song in harmony, welcoming the monkey as a divine guest.

The film showcases the epic battle between Raghava and Lankesh, and celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

The movie features Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh or Ravana.
