Annamalai's trip has come a day after the Tamil Nadu ruling DMK government has said that it is ready to ship the essential items to Sri Lanka on humanitarian grounds.

The allocation of the new security detail to the IPS officer-turned-politician was made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. 

By citing his confidence in people's trust in BJP, Annamalai stated, "People have again shown their support to the BJP."

The price hike has come into effect on Monday - March 7. In what has become the first hike since May 2020, the hike has surged the price of liquor by Rs 10.

BJP President Annamalai has been claiming that the party's victory implies that the people of Tamil Nadu have begun to support Prime Minister Modi.
