Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai wrote, "It is deeply shocking that Tirupattur town deputy president Kalikannan was hacked to death. I am expressing my condolences to his family members."

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai released a statement in which he announced that Gayathri Raghuram has been suspended from the party for six months.

Annamalai and dozens of BJP functionaries staged a protest at Valluvar Kottam on Tuesday and later, they were arrested and detained by the police.
