The Chennai Police have filed a case against the council based on a complaint from Anna University, where the council has recently organized its event to confer doctorates to prominent people. 

When the invitation carries a prominent venue like Anna University, little did the recipients of doctorates know that they are being victimized by the council. 

These deaths have allegedly happened due to the caste and institutional mayhems and have sparked a voice of dissent from within the institute as the students raged against the administration. 

It has also been reported that the central agencies have also launched a probe and Nedumaran will be questioned soon with this regard. 

A Chennai police official said that the student was staying in a single occupancy room at the Mahanadhi Hostel on the IIT-M campus.
