The movie has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played important roles.

Notably, Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuven, starring Dhanush, got released on September 29, a day ahead of the release of Ponniyin Selvan.
